. M-Audio Axiom 25 V2 Keyboard Control Demo The Axiom 25 from M-Audio is a compact, 25-key controller for use with your music software and MIDI gear.
In addition to being a comprehensive 'data entry' controller, the keyboard features piano-style, semi-weighted keys for a musically satisfying playing experience, while still being small enough to fit into a backpack for mobile use. Large dynamic trigger pads make it easy to program beats and trigger one-shot samples, while encoder knobs and buttons deliver complete real-time control over your software. DirectLink mode provides easy access to common DAW functions, including transport, mixer, track pan, and virtual instrument parameters, with no complicated setup required. Each controller can be mapped to just about any MIDI message available, along with independent channel addressing for each, allowing endless possibilities for control. And with the new Instrument mode, a single button press instantly maps the fader, buttons, and encoders to any virtual instrument inside your DirectLink-compatible host. The keyboard also features a sleek, angled top panel for easy viewing in any environment, providing all the right information and controls at your fingertips, whether you're on stage or in the studio.
The backlit LCD screen provides informative feedback from DAW hosts, including on-screen display of parameters, settings, and track/VI names. The Axiom 25 is extremely compact and lightweight and is powered directly from your computer's USB bus.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from I would pay over $ for this! I use this MIDI device on Fl Studio 10 and Logic 9.
It works great in both programs. The Keys have a nice grip to them and you can tell they were not made cheap. Most keyboards i have used before this were very lightweight and cheap feeling, but this one has a pretty good weight for its size.It also has these rubber guards on the sides to protect it when it may bump into things.
The pads are the best quality ive seen in this price range. Also all of the knobs and buttons work correctly. Overall this MIDI device has no faults for what im using it for! Rated 5 out of 5 by Vince vertigo from great product I currently DJ and always wanted to get into music making and producing, with the axiom dreams became reality. It was the easiest piece of equipment to use, just plugged it in to my computer and my DAW found some of the settings and the other settings we easy to set up.
Overall, I am absolutly happy with the product and works great. The axioms functionally is wonderful and the keys are great to the touch. Would recommend it to anyone that has to be on the go and wants a great piece of equipment on the road with them. Rated 5 out of 5 by pixeleyes from a useful and portable tool for pianists M-Audio has finally released 64-bit compatible software for using this with Logic, and I'm learning how to control Logic from the Axiom. The keys don't feel like a piano, but if you have piano training, you can quickly adapt your technique to shape lines with the Axiom. Velocity curves are selectable, which really helps. Solid construction; a rather complex system of multi-function buttons that requires some training time; USB buss powered is convenient.
There's a lot you can do with this and a laptop. Rated 5 out of 5 by kayakdoug from Small, easy, and enhances productivity! This 25 key controller has a heavy build and the keys are fairly nice, they're plastic, but they feel weighted and substantial. I was a bit worried about how easy it would be to map the Axiom 25 to the instruments in Logic.
That is very easy in Logic: Select the dial on the Virtual Instrument you want to control, press command L, then simply turn the dial on the Axiom 25 that you want to use, and you are done. Turning the dial on the Axiom now turns the selected dial in Logic. Sliders work the same way. I haven't used it with the mixer yet, I'm having too much fun with the Virtual Instruments! Also, I couldn't believe how much time I was saving by not having to use the mouse.
I can play notes and tweak the filters all on the Axiom. This not only seems to be conserving a synapse or two, it encourages me to explore all of the filter parameters more creatively. At some point I will have to mix down my tracks, and I'm looking forward to using the Axiom 25 with that task. Dang it, though, I'll probably wish I had bought the larger Axiom (more sliders/faders/knobs, Oh Boy!).
I really don't have room for those larger controllers. The Axiom 25 is just a bit larger than a 3 3-ring binder. It is speedy, fun, and it Works. Rated 5 out of 5 by The Little Studio from B&H has the best price!
This unit is very well made, using with a recording DAW. Works well via the MIDI or USB cable it comes with.
Purchase the power supply as well you can get the Axiom 25 ver 2 and the power supply for less at B&H than others sell the controller/keyboard alone. Wish M-Audio/Avid, who makes it, supported Directlink within my DAW Studio One Artist - maybe eventually. Semi-wieghted keys feel great and pads and knobs have a solid, well made feel!
